Zim music moving with the times’

only do we have more musicians rising up, but our music is rich in both message and texture. Gospel musicians are now exploring different genres of music so that the music isn’t repetitive and boring anymore.
“I don’t subscribe to the view that we are lagging behind in terms of music. Perhaps what we only lack are the strategies to take our music to a wider market as have the Nigerians and the South Africans. We only need to promote Zimbabwean gospel music more, to have experienced managers to source opportunities outside and I am certain that we can achieve more,” Doka said.
The gospel diva said she was thrilled by the overwhelming response to her 10-track album, “Reflections-Mirangariro”.
Doka, who staged a number of live shows during her last visit to Zimbabwe, said she was looking forward to holding more shows soon as well as the release of a DVD album.
“The song ‘Patsoka Dzenyu’ has been very popular with women since it’s a prayer to the Almighty. It also teaches and inspires happy marriage. “Munamato Une Samba” with its mellow and captivating sound draws attention to the prayer of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane and the power of prayer to conquer all.
“Tinomutemba Jesu” is a great sing along song where which reaffirms our faith in non-other but Jesus Christ. “Nemavanga” talks about true healing as having come to us by the wounds of the Lord Jesus.
“Mboni Yeziso” reminds everyone that we are the apple of His eye.
Doka who performed a number of live shows during her last visit to Zimbabwe said she was looking froward to staging more shows soon including the release of her DVD.
“I am in the diaspora at the moment so I cannot put a specific time frame as to when I will hold shows in Zimbabwe as a main act, but all I can safely say is by God’s grace I am working on something big for Zimbabwe. It will not be long and yes I am working on videos for ‘Reflections-Mirangariro’,” she said.
