Zim records 12 more Covid-19 cases

THE country yesterday recorded 12 new Covid-19 positive cases bringing the cumulative total to 617 cases.

The Ministry of Health and Child Care said all the new cases have been put under isolation.

Ten cases were reported from returning residents from South Africa while two cases were reported from local transmissions.

The ministry said the source of the local cases is not yet known and is being investigated.

“12 cases tested positive for Covid-19 today. These include returnees from South Africa (10) and two local cases who are isolated.  A total of 2314 Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDT) and 522 PCR tests were done countrywide bringing the total number of tests done so far to 71 236, consisting of 39 623   RDT and 31 613 PCR tests,” reads the statement from the health ministry.

173 people have so far recovered from the virus while the number of deaths remains at seven.
