ZIMBABWE will have the highest number of international referees at the forthcoming Zone Six Club Championships set for Durban, South Africa from next week to early next month.
According to the Zimbabwe Volleyball Association, the country will have five referees who however are yet to be named. The tournament, which is set to provide teams for the prestigious African Club Championships next year, will run from November 30 to December 8.
Besides the officials, Zimbabwe will send seven teams to the championship.
“Zone V1 confirms participation of all Zimbabwe teams at Upcoming Zone VI Club Championships in Durban 30 Nov – 8 December 2018. Women teams, Harare City (defending champions), and UZ Wolves. Men teams, Support Unit (defending champions), UZ Wolves, NABA, Harare City and Black Rhinos. Zimbabwe will also have the highest number of International Referees at the games,” reads a statement from the ZVA.
The top two teams from this contest in the women and men’s categories will be Zone 6’s representatives at the African Club showpiece in 2019.
The last edition of the African Club Championship were hosted by Egypt in March this year with hosts Al Ahly SC winning the championship.
