TWO Zimbabwean rugby teams, the Zimbabwe Goshawks and Zimbabwe Academy, are set to compete in the Zambia International Sevens tournament set for Leopards Hill Polocrosse Club in Lusaka tomorrow and on Monday.
Cheetahs’ coach Gilbert Nyamutsamba said he has blended youth and experience in his squad as they are building up for the next Africa Cup campaign as well as Zimbabwe’s bid to qualify for the next Olympic Games.
“We are ready for the Lusaka sevens tournament as this will go a long way in preparing for Africa Cup games,” said Nyamutsamba.
The Cheetahs’ next stop will be the Maseru 7s tournament in Lesotho which is from September 22-23. In preparation for this competition, the Cheetahs’ camp will run from September 18-20.
After the tours of Zambia and Lesotho, the Cheetahs’ will prepare for the next sevens tournament to be staged in Tunisia between October 13-14.
