ZIMBABWE’S representatives raised the country’s flag high at the just-ended Little Mr and Miss Africa pageant held in Johannesburg.
The two girls, Tamar Muchineuta (nine) and Saminah Muzondo (12), emerged winners and felt proud to represent their country.
The pageant shared and celebrated African culture among little kids.
Tamar, who was crowned the Rising Star Queen, was excited over her achievement.
“I learnt a lot about different cultures and I am excited since there was a lot of competition.
“I am going to use the platform to host the next Little Miss Africa pageant so as to showcase the beauty of our country.
“This is a milestone,” she said.
She also hailed the Zimbabweans in South Africa for supporting her.
“There was a lot of competition despite us lacking adequate support from potential sponsors but we are happy that the Zimbabwean community in South Africa came through to support us.”
Saminah was crowned the Personality Queen.
“We were exposed to different cultures and traditions, as Africans we need such platforms so we can grow and support each other.
“We thank Vaida Chemicals for the support of Miss Michaels Cakes and Pretty by Sindy as well as Passions events for the support throughout the journey.”
Fifty-four countries took part and the categories included introduction, culture wear, evening gown.
Saminah is a Form One student at Westminster and an advocate against anti-drugs abuse.
Tamar is a radio host at Capitalk and an advocate for education.
She was also a winner of Miss Universe Super Talent last year.
