ZIM TO MARK WEEK OF ITALIAN CUISINE

THE Embassy of Italy in Zimbabwe, in collaboration with various partners, has announced the IX Week of Italian Cuisine in the World from November 16 to 18 at the Peech Boutique Hotel in Harare.

This year’s theme, ‘The Mediterranean Diet and Culinary Roots – Health and Tradition,’ aims to celebrate the rich culinary heritage of Italy while promoting the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet.

The Mediterranean diet is recognised as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

It is also globally appreciated and embraced, not only for its delicious flavours, but also for its positive impact on health and well-being.

This year’s celebration will feature a series of events, including cooking demonstrations and sampling of both food and wine.

A variety, mixology and mise-en-place workshops, and seminars led by renowned chefs, oenologist, and mixologists, will be held.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore the importance of traditional ingredients, sustainable practices and the cultural significance of Italian cuisine.

Highlights include:
• Cooking Demonstrations:
International chefs will showcase traditional Italian recipes using fresh, local ingredients that embody the principles of the Mediterranean diet.

• Collaborations with Local Chefs:

Italian chefs will collaborate with local culinary experts to create fusion dishes that celebrate both Italian and local flavors.
· Cultural Exchange:

The deep connection between Italian cuisine and its cultural roots illustrated in books created by our Ministry and partners for this occasion which can also been downloaded.

· Educational

Presentation of Master Degrees available in Italian Universities where scholarships are sometimes also possible.

• Social Media Campaign:

A dedicated social media campaign will encourage participants to share their experiences and favorite Mediterranean recipes using the hashtags. #SCIM2024 #italiancuisine #cucinaitaliana

“This year also marks a significant milestone in Italy and in the world as we also celebrate the 95th anniversary of Italian Cuisine.

“The IX Week of Italian Cuisine in the World not only aims to promote Italy’s culinary heritage but also to foster a greater understanding of the importance of healthy eating habits rooted in tradition.
