Zim to participate at Dubai Expo 2020, offered free exhibition space

HARARE – Zimbabwe will participate at the world expo to be hosted by Dubai, the United Arab Emirates next year where it has been offered free exhibition space, the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) has said.

Known as Expo 2020 Dubai, the showcase, the last one which was held in Milan, Italy in 2015, opens in October 2020 and will run until April 2021 under the theme: “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.”

World expos provide a platform for the global community to meet and share innovations and discuss issues of international importance which include the global economy, sustainable development and improved quality of life for the world’s population.

The participation of Zimbabwe at the fair is one of the success stories of the engagement and re-engagement agenda of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government, which has seen ties between the country and the UAE improve in recent months.

“Zimbabwe has been offered a dedicated kiosk at no cost and intends to take full advantage of the opportunity. This kiosk will form part of Zimbabwe’s showcase and will augment Zimbabwe’s country pavilion exhibition,” the OPC said in a statement inviting local firms willing to take part in the exposition.

“This is a unique opportunity to promote curated stalls, focusing on the promotion of original Zimbabwean products.”

“The products should be reflective of the Zimbabwean culture and endorse ethical shopping,” the OPC said, adding qualifying products would be thoroughly vetted in line with the demands of the expo organisers. – New Ziana
