Zim XI impress in South Africa

Zimbabwe as an Invitation XI is impressing at the Pepsi International Cricket Council Africa Division 3 tournament in Benoni, South Africa. The locals are playing in the 50-overs tournament with Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania, Uganda and the host country’s A side. The Zimbabweans bowled Tanzania for just 71, paving the way for a crushing eight-wicket victory in their opening match.

Opting to bat first, Tanzania’s innings lasted only 12.5 overs as their batters capitulated to a polished Zimbabwe Invitation XI seam attack.
Mountaineers fast bowler Tatenda Mupunga was the pick of the bowlers with a return of 5-29 in nine overs.

In reply, the Zimbabwe Invitation XI top order made light work of the chase, with Kudzai Sauramba scoring an unbeaten 35 that ensured victory for his team.
Mupunga’s heroics with the ball earned him the man-of-the-match accolade.

Zimbabwe Invitation XI, set 260 runs to win, finished on 261 for four as they won with 29 balls to spare.
Timycen Maruma, with a point to prove after some disappointing performances with the senior team, smashed an unbeaten 127 to guide his team across the finish line.

Earlier, Zimbabwe Invitation XI, who won the toss and chose to field, dismissed Namibia for 259, with the Tuskers seamer Steven Chimhamhiwa taking three wickets for 38 runs in 7.2 overs.

In their third match, the Zimbabwe Invitation XI beat Kenya by 43 runs.
An aggressive knock of 71 from all-rounder Carl Mumba set up victory for Zimbabwe Invitation XI over Kenya.
