THE Cross-Country Series will kick start the 2026 athletics season with the national finals finals set for Bindura on November 22.

Provincial activity is expected to start soon with teams for the inter-provincial championships to be assembled and ready for Bindura by mid-November.

At stake are berths in the team to take part in the World Athletics Cross-Country Championships in Tallahassee in the United States of America on January 10.

Manuel Mpofu, the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe competitions boss, Manuel Mpofu said the cross-country series and finals in Bindura are a trial for discipline and dreams.

“These Trials are where discipline meets dreams. We’re looking for athletes who can read the course, respond to pace changes, and finish with authority. Strong performances in Bindura will form the backbone of Team Zimbabwe for Tallahassee,” said Mpofu.

He did not give dates for the provincial finals but is hopeful that the next two and a half months will see a lot of club and provincial activity as athletes take aim at the US trip.
