Harare magistrate Vakayi Chikwekwe has granted US$200 bail to Zimbabwe Independent editor Faith Zaba, who is facing charges of publishing material that allegedly undermined the authority of President Mnangagwa.

Zaba was ordered to report once a week on Friday at CID Law and Order in Harare as part of her bail conditions.

She was also ordered to continue residing at her given address and to surrender her passport to the Clerk of Court.

The magistrate barred Zaba from interfering with State witnesses. In his ruling, Mr Chikwekwe said the State had conceded that there are no compelling reasons justifying the continued detention of Zaba.

She will be back in court on July 29.
