Zimbabwe have been knocked out of the International Cricket Council World Twenty20 after they went down by 59 runs to Afghanistan in their last group B qualifying match at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, India.
Man of the match Mohammad Nabi top scored for Afghanistan with 52 runs from 32 deliveries, Samiullah Shinwari made a 37 ball 43 runs while opener Mohammad Shahzad clobbered 40 off 23 balls as the Asians posted 186 for six wickets.
A pathetic batting saw Zimbabwe blown away for 127 runs, so bad was their display with the bat that the highest score came from Tinashe Panyangara who made 17 runs not out off just seven balls coming in to bat at number 10. Panyangara was by far the best performer for Zimbabwe on day as he also took three wickets for 32 runs in the four overs that he bowled.
Zimbabwe now find the next available flight back home while Afghanistan progress to the next round of the competition where they join Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies and England in Group One.
