Zimbabwe Olympic Committee, journalists hold media workshop

THE Zimbabwe Olympic Committee, in conjunction with the Sports Writers Association of Zimbabwe will on Saturday hold a workshop for sports journalists from the Southern Region at a Bulawayo hotel.

Running under the theme “Safe and Inclusive Sport”, a number of facilitators will take the 25 scribes through the sessions on the day. Zoc staff members, Chiedza Mafunga, Tawanda Sithole and Lawrence Kamukapa, together with a fourth resource person to be confirmed who is from Bulawayo are the facilitators for the workshop.

A similar workshop was held in Harare in November last year. Yesterday, a statement from Swaz said the workshop is exclusive for the association’s paid-up membership based in Bulawayo and surrounding areas. Swaz vice- chairman, Lee Mangena is co-ordinating the workshop on behalf of the association’s executive committee and is carrying out the registration process for eligible members.

Swaz said their executive committee continues to work hard from behind the scenes to bring more and clearly beneficial programmes to the association’s membership. In December last year, Swaz successfully hosted the inaugural Sports Media Awards at the Harare Sports Club cricket pavillion. Tanganda Tea Company, National Foods, Herentals Group of Colleges and Zimbabwe Cricket were some of the organisations which partnered Swaz for the event. — @Mdawini_29.
