Zimbabwe Saints hold annual review meeting

This was confirmed yesterday by club chairman Felix Dzumbunu who said the meeting would be with other stakeholders who worked closely with the team last year.
“It’s our annual review meeting. We just want to look back at the 2011 season and see where we went wrong and make plans for the future,” said Dzumbunu.
The chairman came to the club’s rescue last year when he   bought a Premiership franchise.  It appears the decision to buy the franchise was taken rather late as the club did not adequately prepare as evidenced by its struggle to survive throughout  the season.

They were eventually relegated and have been holding on  to distant hopes that the alleged corruption in Zimbabwe refereeing could give them a lifeline and still have another dance in the Premiership.
At first Zifa seemed to have entertained the Chikwata argument but it was later dismissed as “unfootball-like” as there are clear promotion and demotion rules and regulations.

Dzumbunu said the club wanted to map the way forward for  the 2012 season so that the team is geared for the forthcoming season campaign.
“We want to make preparations regardless of which league we would be participating in. What cannot be in doubt is that we will play football this coming season,” said Dzumbunu.

The former league, Nyore Nyore, Castle Cup and Chibuku Trophy winners remain Bulawayo’s second most successful club with a big following that is not active.

Many have sought and found refuge at other clubs and there are no doubts that once “Saints Go Marching” they would return to support their team.
Squabbles since 1989 and financial woes have affected the once great Bulawayo team.
