THE Zimbabwe senior women’s cricket team has arrived in Dublin, Ireland, brimming with confidence ahead of their three-match T20 International series set for Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The action then shifts to Belfast for two One Day Internationals on July 26 and 28, setting the stage for a high-stakes contest between two competitive sides.
In an interview, captain Chipo Mugeri Tiripano expressed her excitement about leading the Lady Chevrons once again.
“I am thrilled to be captaining this team as we take on Ireland. Our historic bilateral series against the USA in April — where we won the T20s and leveled the ODIs — has given us great momentum. But we know this tour won’t be easy. With crucial games leading into next year’s FTP program and the upcoming qualifiers in Namibia, every match counts,” she said, further highlighting the squad’s exciting mix of emerging talent and seasoned campaigners.
“We have got some fantastic young players, including rising stars like Kellis Ndhlovu, Kudzai Chigora, and Beloved Bhiza—who’ve stepped up from the U19s. There’s also Vimbai Mutungwindu, who could make her debut on this tour. Alongside them, our experienced players bring invaluable knowledge of foreign conditions. Yes, we’re missing a few key players due to unforeseen circumstances, but this team is ready to shine. I truly believe in every single player—they have been outstanding in training since January. Fans can expect fireworks,” she said, also sharing her enthusiasm about the return of pace bowler Kudzai Chigora after a long injury layoff.
“We are delighted to have Kudzi back—her absence was a big loss for us. This tour is a massive opportunity for our seamers, especially in Irish conditions. She bowled brilliantly when we hosted Ireland last year, and we are counting on her to bring that same energy now.
“Wherever we play, our fans show up with incredible passion. To all Zimbabweans in Ireland—come out and cheer us on! This white-ball series promises thrilling cricket, and we’d love to see you there,” she said.
