Zimpapers hosts AI conference

THE Zimbabwe Newspapers Group is gearing up for a groundbreaking conference that will bring together key stakeholders to explore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on several sectors.

The conference, to be held on Wednesday next week at Golden Conifer in Harare, will run under the theme of embracing cutting edge technology for the 4th industrial revolution.

Government officials, regulatory authorities, policymakers, industry leaders, corporates, academics, students and STEM enthusiasts are expected to attend.

This diverse gathering aims to tackle the opportunities and challenges presented by AI, with a focus on data management, pricing strategies and taxation frameworks.

The adoption of artificial intelligence in many industries has the potential to revolutionise operations, increase efficiency and drive innovation, but it also poses significant challenges.

While AI can bring benefits such as enhanced productivity, improved decision-making and personalise customer experiences, it also raises concerns about job displacement, data privacy and ethical considerations.

As industries embrace AI, it is crucial to address these challenges and ensure responsible implementation, up-skilling of workforce and prioritisation of human well-being alongside technological advancements.

Zimpapers Group public relations and events manager, Ms Pauline Matanda, said Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister Tatenda Mavetera would be the guest speaker.

The director general of the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), Dr Gift Kallisto Machengete, would be among the keynote speakers.

AI can help analyse data to inform business decisions, improve customer experiences, and identify new opportunities. It also can enable the development of new products and services, fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in areas like healthcare and education.

It can also automate processes, increasing productivity and efficiency in industries like manufacturing, agriculture and finance, enhance transparency, accountability and decision-making in the public         sector.

In the agricultural sector, AI can optimise crop yields, disease detection, and resource allocation, boosting agricultural productivity and in the health sector it can improve diagnosis accuracy, drug discovery and personalised treatment plans, while  in education, it can enhance learning experiences and provide personalised education.
