As part of efforts to educate the public about cancer, Zimpapers will hold a Cancer Power Walk on 5 November 2016.
Starting at 6am until midday, the walk will see participants gathering at Herald House in Harare to register and start the 5km Power Walk to Old Hararians Sports Club following an agreed route.
After Octoberas Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the company will not stop its efforts to raise cancer awareness among a public that sometimes goes about its daily business oblivious to the dangers of the disease.
Since it is a 5km walk, the walk will serve a double purpose as it will not only raise awareness but also encourage exercise and healthy lifestyles among the participants.
In the fun and social environment that typifies a walk, participants will be educated on how lifestyle diseases like cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and others have become leading killers of people who operate in highly stressful environments.
Recognising the fact that cancer like all diseases does not discriminate, The Power Walk will be open to adults of all ages, race and creed.
The walk will not look at cancer in isolation, as there is going to be free cancer screening, BP checks and HIV testing at the site.
This is to encourage a more holistic way of life which sees the public taking an interest in knowing their full health status. These will take place while a Zumba instructor will be taking people through the session.
Last month Zimpapers held a Takkie Day for Cancer and the month of October saw the group raising awareness on cancer through various platforms.
