A GROUP of Chitungwiza business people on Saturday celebrated their achievements with officials from the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA).

ZIMRA official, Definitely Tonderayi Jenami, urged the business people to register their businesses and to work in a professional and transparent way.

“We are aware that most of you were used to sell your items and pocketing everything,” said Jenami.

“Have a new mindset, shift your focus from running your business in an informal way to formal and accept that you are growing.

“As we enter 2025, make sure your business is registered properly, not short cuts, avoid engaging unprofessional people or kushanda nevakomana nevasikana vanoti tokurongerai.

“Welcome to the world of book keeping, paying of taxes and visit our offices for the right information.

“Tax clearance is important and avoid losing your hard-earned goods because of failing to clear your taxes with ZIMRA.

“We respect your brains, your business as well as your growth.

“Zvekutyorera mari yose muhomwe nekudya yose kunge muchero wegudo ngatizvisiye.

“Every dollar counts, be responsible make sure your employees are are paying tax as well,” he said.

He urged them to bank their money with financial institutions and to avoid keeping money at homes and their business premises.

“Be wise in your dealings, avoid being a target of armed robbers by moving around with large volumes of money to show off.

“Bank your money and avoid disclosing the movement of your money to your employees, friends and relatives.”

Chitungwiza Business Trust, chaired by Tendai Mareya, said their aim was for their members to get a clear picture about the payment of taxes.

Mareya said the membership has been growing with a view to sharing business ideas, fighting criminal activities as well as drug and substance abuse.

“We have decided to celebrate our growth by inviting financial advisors, ZIMRA and other stakeholders as a way of finding a better ground for growth.

“We want to avoid battles with ZIMRA, local council and police over failing to comply with their expectations.

“We are pleased that among our members we have young men and women doing great in terms of employing local people, empowering our own and with the zeal to grow bigger,” said Mareya.

The celebration was conducted at Small Stones Business complex, which is run by one of the Trust members.

Dziva Rembira and Allan Chinbetu provided entertainment.
