THE Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) will implement top-tier changes including higher parking charges and exclusive shuttle services, to encourage healthier mobility options.
The ZITF is prioritising carbon emission reduction as it opens gates for business today in Bulawayo.
Industry and Commerce Ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr Thomas Utete Wushe, said these initiatives are aimed at discouraging visitors from using their cars, within the exhibition premises, and to promote the benefits of walking.
“The primary goals are to ease parking congestion and to significantly decrease the venue’s carbon emissions.
“By urging participants to use shuttle services from surrounding hotels, we address parking strains and cut down on pollution.
“We are encouraging attendees to experience the exhibition on foot, which will enhance their visit,” said Dr. Wushe.
With these innovative steps, the ZITF is poised to provide an environmentally-friendly experience for all participants, setting a precedent for future trade shows globally.
It is set to take place from today to Friday at the ZITF Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo.
Almost 580 exhibitors have signed up with 136 participating for the first time, occupying 98 percent of the available exhibition space.
