THE Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) has started on a high note, with exhibitors expressing strong expectations for advancing industrialisation.
Speaking to Zimpapers Business Hub, KG Mobiles founder Mr Patrick Kagoro said they have introduced an array of accessories suitable for companies as they progress towards digitisation and they anticipate business growth through the expo, which improves annually.
Comesa trade officer, Ms Bonakele Ndzinisa, noted that Zimbabwe, as a founding member, has actively contributed to various Comesa initiatives.
She said Comesa was present to disseminate trade information aimed at increasing commerce among member states.
She emphasised the importance of engaging the private sector, as many businesses lack comprehensive information about the trading bloc.
“Zimbabwe is performing well and actively participating in Comesa trade activities,” said Ms Ndzinisa.
Belarus has also brought several companies to exhibit under the Belarus Pavilion, with Belarus State University keen to attract Zimbabwean students interested in studying at their institution.
ESolutions representative Mr Gibson Mukarakate said their company looked forward to greater interaction with small businesses, with the aim of improving their compliance with tax regulations.
Uganda Investment Authority representative Mr Simon Ngabo echoed similar sentiments.
“We are also looking forward to interacting with ZIDA; we expect this to benefit both countries,” said Mr Ngabo.
Running from Monday to Saturday, the annual exhibition stands as one of the country’s premier trade and investment platforms, drawing local, regional and international participants from various sectors.
This year’s Sapphire Edition, themed “Industrialisation: Crafting an Integrated Economic Landscape,” ZimTrade Southern region manager Mrs Jackie Nyathi highlighted the significance of this year’s theme, noting that the expo unites stakeholders to bolster both industrialisation and trade.
She mentioned that ZimTrade has showcased heritage-based products to provide a national perspective, featuring companies from across the country.
ZimTrade has also brought women, youths and small businesses, aiming to assist them in showcasing their products and fostering growth.
The Kenyan Embassy has also presented a variety of products from SMEs as they also seek to increase their contribution to their economy.
