Zitisu games kick off tomorrow

AFTER successfully hosting the Zimbabwe University Sports Association Games (Zusa), Midlands State University (MSU) will once again be the centre of attraction when it welcomes tertiary institutions for the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union Games (Zitisu) this weekend.

Three tertiary bodies namely Zusa which are university representatives, Zimbabwe Teachers Colleges Sports Association (Zitcosa) as well as the Tertiary Education Sports Association of Zimbabwe (Tesaz) an amalgamation of polytechnic colleges will vie for honours at the games.

Over 1,000 athletes are expected at the games which start tomorrow and end on Saturday.

By late yesterday various teams were trickling in at the teams’ village at MSU. Zitisu president, Martin Zibwi said all the teams are expected tomorrow at the Games Village where accreditation of the teams will take place. He said just like the Zusa championships the matches will be spread across Gweru and Kwekwe.

“We are expecting all the teams to be in camp by tomorrow where accreditation will take place and we will also have an official opening ceremony to signify the start of the games on the same day.

“The various associations will be competing in  over 10 disciplines which will be spread to different venues  in Gweru and Kwekwe,” he said.
