ZNA to complete community projects by year-end

THE Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) is targeting to complete all running developmental projects in Manicaland by the end of the year, The Herald has learnt.

Manicaland provincial army spokesperson Captain Moreblessings Mugumbate said various institutions that required their services were welcome to approach them.

“We have various community assistance projects across the province, which the army is committed to completing before the end of the year,” he said.

“The army is ready to provide community assistance in various projects and it is committed to continue working with different institutions in the province. As we speak, we have handed over classroom blocks at Chirowakamwe Primary School in Dangamvura.”

Capt Mugumbate said they were working towards completion of a classroom block at Birchenough Primary School.

He said the army was also assisting in the construction of Mapako Clinic in Nyanga, which they expected to complete by end of November.

“There is another project, which is underway at Mt Carmel Primary School in Rusape where a classroom block is under construction,” he said.

Capt Mugumbate urged institutions that required army assistance to approach them after they had fully resourced their projects.

“We are having challenges with some people who approach the army for assistance when they do not have resources,” he said. “It means that the army would take a longer period than expected at one place.

“Our aim is to complete every project within two weeks of commencement. We encourage people and other institutions to fully mobilise resources before approaching the army for assistance.”

Capt Mugumbate said they were aiming to complete all the projects they started this year before embarking on new projects.

“Our intention is to cover the whole of the province and as such we want to complete all projects, which we started this year so that we start a new year on a fresh page,” he said.
