MORE than 60 businesses — among them companies and individuals — were honoured for their excellence and resilience at this year’s bigger and better Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce Business awards ceremony.

Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza officiated at the awards ceremony, reaffirming Government’s commitment to developing policies that attract investment, promote innovation, and drive inclusive growth.

The event was held under the theme — Unlocking Business Potential through Policy, Partnerships and Productivity — which underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in fostering economic development.

“In the face of global uncertainty, local constraints and a rapidly evolving economic environment, it has become imperative that we, as policymakers and stakeholders, rally behind a shared vision. A vision that empowers enterprise, champions innovation, and strengthens our capacity to compete, not regionally, but globally. Unlocking the vast potential of our business sector requires more than ambition, it calls for deliberate action, strategic alignment and shared purpose.

“And this begins with the policies that shape our economic environment. As Government, we remain steadfast in our commitment to building policy framework that encourages investment, rewards innovation and fosters inclusive growth. But we are fully aware that policy must go beyond words, it must be practical, responsive and informed by real experiences of the business community.

“It is a pleasure to honour the champions of industry, those who have excelled in innovation, resilience and leadership, we are reminded that the future of our economy is in capable hands. These business represent the best of Zimbabwe. And with right policies, the right partnerships, and a renewed focus on productivity, we can ensure that many more will rise,” said Minister Mugadza.

Speaking at the same event, NetOne Group Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, emphasised the importance of embracing digitalisation to drive business growth.

Engineer Mushanawani who is also Zimpapers board member was crowned Business Leader of the Year 2025.

He urged businesses to harness technology, the backbone of modern commerce, to build a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future.

“It is a call to action for all of us to work diligently towards a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future. In this digital era, the digitalisation of our economy is imperative. National Development Strategy (NDS1) recognises that technology is the backbone of modern business and the key to delivering on the needs of others. As a catalyst for transformation, embracing digital solutions enhances the ease of doing business, streamlines operations, and improves access to markets.

“Our commitment to advancing smart cities, smart mining, and smart agriculture is grounded in the belief that innovation drives sustainable growth and elevates living standards. Preserving our environment and wetlands is crucial as we pursue economic development. The health of our ecosystem is vital for future generations’ well-being. We must monitor our natural resources, ensuring industries operate sustainably and responsibly. Tonight, we celebrate, not only the achievements of outstanding businesses, but also the spirit of resilience and innovation each award recipient represents.

‘‘This spirit showcases the potential within our nation, accomplished through hard work, dedication, strategy, and strategic partnerships,” he said.
