Zondo Sakala’s CV

THOMAS ZONDO SAKALA: He is a Zimbabwean banker and economist who was born in March 3, 1955.

Holding a BSc (Hons) and an MSc in Economics from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, where he has lived for the past 31 years, Mr Sakala is fluent in both English and French — two key languages on the African continent.

Before October 2014, when he left the African Development Bank (AfDB), he was the vice-president in charge of country and regional programmes at the lender.

His brief included the co-ordination of the preparation and approval of the country and regional strategies and programming in Africa.

Before his life at the bank, Mr Sakala worked for three years as senior research and principal planning officer in the Ministry of Manpower Planning and Development in Zimbabwe, which carried out Zimbabwe’s first post-independence National Manpower Survey.
