JUSTIN Kaunda netted his 12th goal of the season as ZPC Hwange beat visiting Zimbabwe Saints 3-0 in a Zifa Southern Region League encounter at Chakona Stadium in the coal mining town on Saturday.

Kaunda leads the top scorers’ charts. This was the team’s 16th win of the season as they maintained an unbeaten run in 19 matches. The other three matches were stalemates. Fortune Nkomazana and Obert Malajila scored the other two goals as the power generators took their points tally to 51, 15 ahead of second-placed Casmyn.

The Bubi District gold miners scrapped a point at Indlovu Iyanyathela in a 1-1 draw with Tatenda Ushe on target for his 11th goal of the season as he chases Kaunda alongside Nkayi United’s Tinotenda Chitete who has scored the same number of goals.

Mkhokheli Dube’s youthful charges, Zebra Revolution, pulled a shocker when they beat third-placed Nkayi United 1-0 at White City Stadium on Saturday. Prosper Msamanyanda scored the solitary goal to take his season’s tally to five goals.

Nkayi have 32 points while Zebra are in a modest seventh position with 27 points.

Dube has assembled a youthful side that is playing some constructive and entertaining football.

Meanwhile a member of the Zifa Southern Region, Blessing Mbwanda, has commended clubs for their sportsmanship which has seen the league running smoothly.

“We would like to commend our clubs for how they are conducting themselves this season. It’s been smooth running, clubs are fulfilling their fixtures and have also shown discipline on the field.

“This is good for football. It presents fair competition for those fighting for the title and those staring at relegation. There is good competition out there, and we are enjoying every bit of it. We wish all our clubs a good second half,” said Mbwanda.
