THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a rebranded National Highway Patrol team, rolling out five high-powered Double-Cab Ford Ranger vehicles to boost road safety during the festive season and beyond.

The official launch took place on Thursday, with Commissioner-General of Police Stephen Mutamba in attendance.

According to a statement posted on ZRP social media pages, the vehicles are part of a broader strategy to strengthen traffic law enforcement and electronic monitoring on the country’s highways.

“The vehicle drivers and assistants will also be equipped with body-worn cameras as part of an electronic traffic management system on the roads,” the post said.

The police urged motorists and road users to report any unruly or dangerous driving to the Highway Patrol teams for swift action.

“Please make use of these new National Highway Patrol vehicles to make reports once you come across the teams on the roads,” the statement added.
