THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has refuted media reports of senior officers stealing food rations meant for their juniors and called for anyone with credible evidence regarding the claims to directly approach the Commissioner-General of Police Stephen Mutamba in person.
ZRP has guaranteed confidentiality to anyone who will to volunteer information to Comm-Gen Mutamba.
In a statement, police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said they have launched an investigation to ascertain the degree of truthfulness into the reports.
“Reference is made to the story titled, “ZRP Bosses Steal Rations: Juniors” in today’s local daily newspaper.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that the Commissioner- General of Police is not aware of the allegations.
“He is therefore frantically trying to ascertain the veracity of the allegations,” he said.
Comm Nyathi called upon anyone with credible and verifiable information to personally approach the Police General Headquarters and directly give such to the Commissioner-General of Police.
