ZRP rescues 10 stranded on Save River Island

A DRAMATIC rescue operation was carried out by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) sub-Aqua team on 20 February 2025, saving 10 people stranded on an island in Save River, Birchenough, Chipinge.
“The victims, who are members of three families, had travelled to the island to tend to their fields”, said ZRP on X.
The 10 individuals had built a makeshift shelter while weeding their crops but became trapped when the Save River suddenly flooded, cutting off their escape route.
