THE Zimbabwe University Sports Association extended their dominance to three years when they finished tops at the 15th edition of the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union Games which ended in Harare at the week- end.

The universities team scooped 29 gold medals and were followed by the Technical Education Sports Associations of Zimbabwe who had 16 gold medals. The Zimbabwe Teachers’ Colleges Sports Association finished last with 14 gold medals.

ZUSA president Liberty Maidza said the success is a result of months and years of hard work.

“The athletes were fully prepared for the task at hand and they did a wonderful job.

“Our athletes have proved to be the best in Zimbabwe because the level of competition I saw here was out of this world,” Maidza said.

Maidza said the games were a good preparation for their athletes who are going to represent Zimbabwe at the World University Games.

ZUSA are sending a team of 32 athletes to the International University Sports Federation Games in Gwangju, South Korea, from July 3-14.
