FORMER Dynamos son Biggie Zuze will be under the spotlight when he returns to the National Sports Stadium tomorrow to lead beleaguered Triangle on a mission to upstage his former team.The cheapest tickets will cost US$2.
The Sugar Sugar Boys are currently in the drop zone after winning only two games and it emerged yesterday that Zuze has been ordered by his employers to start picking up maximum points to save his job.
The international break should have given them enough time to reflect on where they might be going wrong following the demoralising 4-0 defeat to FC Platinum in their last outing.
The visitors have been battling fresh fitness concerns for some of their players and it appears it’s only David Sengu failed to make it after Charles Rukwanhi and Blessing Chimwamuchere recovered on time.
Sengu joins in the sidelines fellow defender Chastern Ngondonga and midfielder Courage Denias who are long-term casualties.
Zuze still has a big pool to select his team.
Triangle have a good squad that includes players such as Pasca Manhanga, Felix Kuswatuka, Nhamo Lameck, Brian Juwayeyi, Ronald Sengu, defender Jimmy Tigere and former DeMbare winger Tinei Chitora.
“The morale is really high. The body language and the spirit from the training shows that no one wants to be left out of the team on Sunday,” said Zuze.
“There is that hunger to play and it is always good to travel with people who are eager to fight for the team. We are coming from a heavy defeat at FC Platinum and we are not putting ourselves under unnecessary pressure. We have to remain focused. I am happy with the spirit in the camp and I believe it’s good motivation.”
Triangle nearly wrecked Dynamos’ championship hopes at Gibbo in the return leg as the Harare giants had to stage a late comeback to claim a crucial away point in the 2-2 draw courtesy of goals from Washington Pakamisa and Simba Sithole.
However Dynamos vice-captain Thomas Magorimbo said the Glamour Boys are determined to get their first win over the visitors although they do not expect an easy game.
“We have to fight hard and put in more than 100 percent effort. Last year we failed to get maximum point against Triangle home and away.
“We drew both matches and that should be homework for us. We cannot underrate them until we beat them,” said Magorimbo.
Dynamos won their last two games before the break when they dismissed FC Platinum and Chiredzi by identical 1-0 margins to stop a winless streak of three games.
The Glamour Boys technical have revealed that they are worried by their conversion rate as their strikers have not been taking the chances coming their way.
The situation has been that bad as newboy Anesu Gondo was the only striker on target in eight games before Patrick Khumbula’s solitary strike in the last game at Chiredzi.
The coaches are still hoping though that Simba Sithole, Farai Mupasiri and Washington Pakamisa will also get their day.
“We are trying as much as we can to be consistent. The results are not coming as we, the players, or the supporters and the executive want,” said Magorimbo.
“But we are trying by all means to push so that we make it. Most of us we are not employed elsewhere. There are no other jobs that we do except playing football so to survive we need to win so that we get those winning bonuses.
“So it’s up to us as players sometimes to sit down and try to motivate each other to get the results.”
The Harare giants will miss defensive midfielder Stephen Alimenda through suspension while a host of other players headlined by Tawanda Muparati, Masimba Mambare, Sydney Linyama and Clive Kawinga are still out with injuries.
Mambare had an MRI scan this week and the club should be able to determine how much longer he would be in the sidelines after the analysis of the results by the team’s doctors.
Magorimbo said DeMbare are not mourning the injuries as they have a strong squad.
“I think this year the competition for places is very tough. You cannot even see that there is any player missing. Right now there are other players who are failing to make the final 18, despite the injuries affecting our team. But we need all the players to be available so that competition remains high and that no-one will relax,” said Magorimbo.
