Crowborough in Harare who pleaded not guilty was convicted of aggravated indecent assault after a full trial.
Acting regional magistrate Ms Estelle Chivasa sentenced Mutevera to 15 years behind bars before suspending three years of the jail term for five years on condition that he does not commit a similar crime of indecent nature.
Mutevera committed the crime on June 28. His victim usually went to play with Mutevera’s cousin at his house.
On the day in question, Mutevera called the boy and took him into his bedroom.
Mutevera kissed the boy on his neck, removed his trousers and fondled his private parts.
He then lifted the boy onto his lap and sodomised him before letting him go.
The boy told his mother about the matter and a police report was made leading to Mutevera’s arrest.
