PARIS. Paris Saint-Germain have parted company with Mauricio Pochettino by mutual consent, according to reports.

The former Tottenham manager departs the Parc des Princes after 18 months at the helm.

Pochettino, 50, delivered Ligue 1 title glory last season, but failed to win the first Champions League crown that PSG’s Qatari owners so covet.

According to The Athletic, both parties agreed it would be better to move on during an end of season meeting last week.

Zinedine Zidane, Jose Mourinho and Christophe Galtier are among the favourites to replace Pochettino.

PSG have also axed former sporting director Leonardo.

The Brazilian has been replaced by new football advisor Luis Campos in Paris.

Campos, 57, previously worked at Monaco where he struck a good working relationship with PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.

More recently the Portuguese worked at Lille, helping them win the Ligue 1 title under Galtier.

Campos has also worked with another contender for the PSG job Mourinho, having been employed as a scout by Real Madrid in 2012.

Reports circulated earlier this week that PSG had finally agreed a deal with No1 choice Zidane.

These rumours were quickly denied by the Ligue 1 champions, although interest in Zizou remains.

Pochettino succeeded Thomas Tuchel as PSG boss in January 2021.

He was unable to wrestle back top spot from Lille during his first six months in charge, but did pick up the Trophee des Champions and the Coupe de France.

His side romped to the Ligue 1 title in his first full season in charge, but couldn’t win the Champions League or domestic cups.

PSG collapsed in their round of 16 clash against eventual winners Real Madrid in March, with Pochettino’s job status having been on shaky ground ever since.

Overall he won 55 of his 84 games in charge, drawing 15 and losing 14 matches. The Sun.
