A TOTAL of paying 14 000 fans turned up to witness Jah Prayzah launch his album in both Harare and the City of Kings on Friday and Saturday last week. At the Harare International Conference Centre in the capital the dreadlocked star managed to pull a crowd of 8 000 while the City of Kings saw a 6 000 strong crowd for his launch in the countryas second largest city.
DNosh of 2Kings Entertainment, one of the organisers of the extravaganza which saw the star host a convoy of vehicles for a road show that took him from Harare to Bulawayo, broke down how the tickets had been sold, although he was reluctant to reveal the profits that they had generated from both shows.
a?In Harare we managed to get in 8 000 fans for both the general sections and the VIP sections while for Bulawayo we had 6 000. We had more fans than that because as you know there are always gatecrashers and in addition in Harare we gave 500 tickets to the media and bunch of other stakeholders while in Bulawayo we reserved about 100 tickets for members of the media, a?he said.
This yearas attendance figures are a reversal of sorts from the last time that Jah Prayzah held launches in both cities in 2014. In 2014 at the Harare International Conference Centre back then he paid the price when his launch gobbled up $40 000 and was poorly attended, leading to losses for the star.
The Bulawayo launch cost him $6 000 and posted a profit because of a larger crowd. This yearas figures are also a reflection of how much the star and his team put in the capital, where the fee for the non-VIP area was $10. DNosh said although they had charged $10 for the capital, it was something that was not financially feasible for Bulawayo.
