AN elderly couple from Bulawayo’s Tshabalala suburb has decided to terminate their marriage after sexually starving each other for the past 18 years.
The woman Patricia Dlamini (61) has made it clear that she wants to move on with her life as she cannot continue staying with Headman Dlamini who is denying her the conjugal rights.
The sexually starved woman said: “I have gone for 18 years without sex as my husband is now sleeping in another room.
“He insults me in front of our children and has labelled me a prostitute in public. Every time I try to talk to him, he threatens to kill me.”
However, when the Western Commonage magistrate Stephen Ndlovu gave the old man a chance to respond, it was a different story as he revealed that whenever they had an argument at their house, the woman left for South Africa.
“Everything she has said is not true. We have problems in our marriage because she does not listen or respect me.
She does whatever she wants without discussing with me and wants to order me around.
“We had a misunderstanding and she left for South Africa and stayed there for nine months. When she returned I forgave her, but after a short time we quarrelled again and she left for two years,” he said.
He revealed that he at some point asked the children to talk sense into their mother’s head, but there was no positive result.
The elderly couple was referred for counselling and after counselling sessions they became honest to each other and agreed to divorce.
The woman made it clear that she had moved on with her life and was relocating to South Africa.
Dlamini will continue counselling sessions to help him accept the news that the wife has decided to move on and the woman’s task is to inform her family about her decision.
