Samoa to lose a day

At some point most of us have lost days of our lives to chores, illness, travel or even (seemingly) in queues — but the population of an entire country is about to lose one at once.
Why? Well the South Pacific island nation of Samoa is skipping forwards a day from midnight on Thursday.

Things that have happened on 25 December

For most, Christmas Day is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ or at least a holiday to get cosy with all the family and tuck into a juicy turkey with all the trimmings. But the world doesn’t stop because people are on holiday — as well as present giving, 25 December has seen the dissolution of a massive communist nation and the death of a well-loved silent movie star.

Bulawayo water supplies safe — Zinwa

THE Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) yesterday said Bulawayo’s water supplies are safe, as the city’s five supply dams have recorded increases in water volumes since the onset of rains in November.
In an interview yesterday, Umzingwane catchment area operations manager Mr Stanley Nazombe said safe water supplies were guaranteed despite the dams having received insignificant inflows.
The city’s supply dams are Upper Ncema, Lower Ncema, Inyankuni, Umzingwane and Insiza.

Pastor fined for bedding injiva’s wife

THE Lower Gweru Baptist Church pastor, Mr Christopher Zinomwe Ndebele, who on Thursday was dragged to Chief Bunina’s court for bedding an injiva’s wife, has been fined seven head of cattle for the           offence.
Pastor Ndebele who was found guilty of having been caught being intimate with Mr Sikhosana Khumbulani’s wife, Ms Nomazulu Mathonsi, suffered a double blow after the church also demoted him from heading Insukamini congregation and gave him seven days to vacate the church house.
