HUNDREDS of Xhosa speaking people yesterday thronged Mr Adam Mdlangathi’s homestead at Sojini village in Mbembesi to welcome the supreme King of the Xhosa Kingdom, Mr Zwelonke Sigcawu, who is visiting the country for the first time.

Woman files false rape charge against boyfriend

A 19-year-old woman from Madlambuzi in Bulilima district in Matabeleland South province fabricated a rape case against her boyfriend so that she could have time with another man.
The woman (name withheld for legal reasons) of Mpugwi Village under Chief Madlambuzi was in a love relationship with Jephias Ncube (19), from the same area starting in January last year until early this year.
The two met in Botswana where they were both working and they then lived together.

Warthogs wreak havoc at irrigation scheme

Warthogs have invaded Hama-Mavhaire  irrigation scheme in Chirumanzu district  and farmers fear they might harvest nothing  from their irrigated crop unless something is done to contain them.
Farmers who spoke to Chronicle during a recent visit to the area said they were now being forced to abandon the comfort of their     houses to spend sleepless nights guarding their fields.
They said warthogs were always a menace  at the irrigation scheme during this time of the year.

Cigarette smugglers arrested

FOUR Zimbabweans were on Wednesday evening arrested in Thohoyandou in Limpopo province, South Africa following the interception of their car, which was loaded with several boxes of smuggled cigarettes worth R100 000.
