200 sticky Copac issues emerge
Tendai Mugabe Senior Reporter
OVER 200 issues of disagreement have emerged after political parties were asked by Copac to review the first draft Constitution.
This has prompted the Constitution-making body to organise a retreat on Sunday to narrow the differences.
Copac co-chairperson Cde Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana said some of the issues that were stalling completion of the new Constitution were trivial.
He said in some cases, it was just political posturing by some elements within Copac.
“After consultations with our respective political parties, we are now going away from Harare to meet with the management committee on June 17,” Cde Mangwana said.
“We are disagreeing on more than 200 issues and it is our hope that most of the issues will be dealt with at that meeting.
“Some of the issues where we are disagreeing are serious and some are trivial. In some cases, it is just political posturing by certain individuals.”
