Police on alert on New Year Eve
Chronicle ReportersPOLICE in Bulawayo will be out in full force tonight to arrest rogue elements and curb all forms of crimes associated with New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo yesterday said police would have enough manpower to cover every corner of the city to curb crime and violence that is synonymous with New Year’s Eve.
Three cops arrested over $1 bribe
Midlands CorrespondentTHREE police officers stationed at Gweru Central Police Station have been arrested for allegedly soliciting and receiving $1 each as a bribe from a suspect.
They had arrested the man in Gweru Central Business District for public drinking.

Oliver KazungaTHE Zimbabwe Miners’ Federation (ZMF) has urged the Government to ensure that small scale miners realise their full potential by gazetting affordable mining activities and licence fees.
The call comes amid reports that the Government intends to reduce mining fees and levies by up to 50 percent following an outcry from the industry when the pre-exploration fees for most minerals were raised by as much as 8 000 percent in January this year.
