Rest of civil servants get bonuses

BULAWAYO was alive yesterday with civil servants, a majority of them teachers who received their annual bonuses going on a massive shopping spree.
Teachers who earn an average $400 per month had more than $800 deposited into their bank accounts this month.
Scenes of lighter moments dominated the entire day, as civil servants and their families thronged shopping outlets to shop for Christmas.
Long queues were observed in most banks in the morning, as people withdrew cash to spend.
Fast food outlets were not spared from the hyperactivity, especially during lunch.
A majority of companies in and around Bulawayo are expected to close shop for the holidays this week.
Some families were shopping goodies for their relatives in the rural areas while others are planning to enjoy the festivities in the villages.Clubs reject Central Soccer League financial report

ZIFA Central Soccer League clubs refused to adopt the financial report presented by treasurer Charlton Moyo at the region’s annual general meeting held in Gwanda on Saturday arguing that it was not done using proper accounting methods and was therefore confusing.
Kunonga surrenders properties

ANGLICAN Church of the Province of Zimbabwe Archbishop Dr Nolbert Kunonga yesterday said he had surrendered all the property belonging to the Church of the Province of Central Africa and that he would abide by the Supreme Court ruling.
Speaking at a Press conference yesterday through his provincial diocese secretary, Reverend Admire Chisango, Dr Kunonga said he would forge ahead with his spiritual work despite the setback.
The Press conference was held at the Executive Hotel in Harare.
Archbishop Kunonga, who was breaking his silence since the Supreme Court ruling, said he would respect the court ruling that conferred ownership rights to his rival, CPCA, ending a five-year legal battle.
The Archbishop had been silent over the past month following the court ruling.
Despite his presence at the Press conference, Dr Kunonga delegated Rev Chisango to speak on his behalf.
