FORMER Highlanders player and welfare manager, Amin Soma-Phiri is in South Africa at Absa Premiership outfit, SuperSport United on a technical attachment as he seeks to bolster his coaching qualifications.
It is believed that his younger brother, Makwinji Soma-Phiri, a former Matsantsantsa player, arranged the industrial attachment with some sources indicating that the club might offer Amin a coaching role at their academy.

HIGHLANDERS members have called for the inclusion of primary elections that will be used to screen candidates vying for posts in the executive whenever there more than two candidates per post.
This, members said, will help the club come up with quality candidates and people of repute.
Speaking soon after the election of Jerry Sibanda as the club’s treasurer and Mgcini Mpofu as vice-chairman, members said it was important to screen candidates.
Seven candidates contested the vice-chairman’s post.
Stage set for cross-country championships

ALL is set for the Bulawayo Province cross country track and field competitions scheduled for White City Stadium this weekend.
Bulawayo Athletics Board chairman Manuel Mpofu confirmed the development yesterday and said all age-groups were welcome to participate in the competitions.

Constitution motion moved in Parly

COPAC co-chairperson Mr Douglas Mwonzora (MDC-T) yesterday gave notice to move a motion for the House of Assembly to adopt the report on the progress of and outcome of the constitution-making process and the draft constitution.
Mr Mwonzora moved the motion on behalf of his colleagues Cde Paul Mangwana (Zanu-PF) and Edward Mkhosi (MDC).
Former cop nabbed for robbery

A former police officer from Masvingo acting in concert with his nephew allegedly robbed a foreign currency dealer of $1 500 after masquerading as serving police officers.
Charles Mupasi (25) and his nephew Lovemore Mununi (25) of Mupasi Village under Chief Munyikwa in Gutu pleaded not guilty when they jointly appeared before Masvingo provincial magistrate Ms Dorothy Mwanyisa to answer charges of impersonating police officers.
