ARE you on the list?
More than 3 000 Bulawayo motorists are on the police wanted list for a string of traffic offences, from reckless driving to hit-and-run incidents, as authorities tighten the screws on lawless drivers in the city.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that the crackdown targets motorists who continue to flout road rules, including ignoring traffic lights, stop signs, and give-way markings.
“These are drivers who have violated traffic regulations and failed to pay fines or appear in court. Some are involved in serious offences such as hit-and-run accidents,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.
Police say the blitz is part of a citywide operation to restore order on Bulawayo’s roads, which have become chaotic due to reckless kombi drivers, pirate taxis, and impatient motorists.
Sources say CCTV footage from key intersections has helped identify several offenders who are now being tracked down.
Motorists are being urged to check with local traffic offices to clear their names before arrests begin.
“If you know you’ve got an outstanding ticket — fix it before we find you,” warned a senior traffic officer.
