A CHIPINGE teenager was on Monday jailed three years for stabbing a reveller at a popular night club in the farming town.

Soul Sithole (18) of Jeti Village under Headmen Chivhinze appeared before Chipinge regional magistrate Mrs Farisi Chakanyuka facing attempted murder charges.

He pleaded not guilty.

Prosecuting, Mr Themba Dhliwayo told the court that on June 10 at Dzonzai Night Club around midnight, Sithole approached Obvious Mahaka (23) of Usanga suburb who was drinking beer alone.

“Sithole ordered Mahaka to buy him beer, but the latter refused. This did not go down well with Sithole who produced a knife and stabbed Mahaka thrice on the head, chest and upper leg. The complainant bled profusely and was taken to Chipinge District Hospital by other revellers after he became unconscious,” said Mr Dhliwayo.

After committing the offence, Sithole vanished from scene.

He was arrested at another beerhall following a police manhunt on him.

Mrs Chakanyuka jailed Sithole for three years after a full trial.

However, he will serve an effective two years after one year was set aside on condition that he does not commit a similar offence.
