WOMEN footballers in Manicaland Province have been urged to prioritise their careers if they are to go far and achieve success in the game.

Speaking during the handover ceremony of groceries to Mutare City Rovers Queens players recently, Zifa Eastern Region Women Football chairperson Rosemary Muzvidziwa said women footballers must be disciplined on and off the pitch as this is the cornerstone of successful careers.

The seasoned Masvingo-based football administrator also implored them to remain steadfast during the trying times brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic which forced the suspension of all local football activities before being granted the greenlight to resume recently.

“As women, we have a lot to offer to the game of football as players, administrators or match officials. This calls on you footballers to be disciplined and dedicated in pursuit of your goals.

“You must desist from abusing your bodies by engaging in other unsavoury activities outside the game as this derails your careers. Focus is needed at all times and you have to use that gift of playing football to earn a living and improve your lives,” said Muzvidziwa.

Muzvidziwa called on women footballers to remain morally upright by living exemplary lives.

She also urged them to pursue their studies as education is equally important.
