Victor Maphosa recently in Mudzi
About 671 vulnerable families in Mudzi’s Ward 11 recently received food aid under the Government’s Food Deficit Mitigation Strategy as the Government moves to assist everyone affected by drought.

The Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare is overseeing the distribution process.
Beneficiaries of the programme recently gathered at Nyaugugu distribution point in Ward 11, where they received three-month’s supply of grain.
One of the beneficiaries, Eunice Kachipini (75) could not hide her joy as she thanked Government.

“I have grandchildren to feed and as I speak, there is no food at home,” she said.
“This gesture has come at the right time and I am relieved. We thank the President for remembering the people of Mudzi. From here, I am heading to the grinding mill. Today, I will cook sadza and eat it with my family,” she said.
Mrs Lydia Chinake said she saw her maize crop wilting due to the drought.
“We did not harvest anything this time around,” she said.

“There was not enough rain. But as people, we need to eat. I have been worried and at my age, I could not go out there to look for employment.
“But here we are today, receiving food aid from our Government. This has renewed everyone’s hope. I am thankful for this gesture. My family will not sleep on empty stomachs.”
Mashonaland East provincial social development officer, Mrs Laizah Chourombo said the programme is ongoing.
