7 Indonesian business people at ZITF

production, and gas production among other sectors. Representatives of the various Indonesian companies who spoke to the Herald last Saturday said Zimbabwe presented vast business opportunities.
The delegation is being led by Ms Syarifah Nurhaya, who is an official from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate of African Affairs.
Speaking at a breakfast meeting organised by the Indonesian ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Eddy Poerwana last Saturday, Ms Nurhaya said Jakarta was keen to enhance its business relations with Harare. The meeting was also attended by some local business people including Telecel managing director Mr John Swain.
“By participating in this expo, we want to enhance bilateral relations between our two countries. We want to link Zimbabwean companies with those in Indonesia so that they can share information and ideas with a view to enhance relations,” she said.
Ms Nurhaya said Zimbabwe presented good investment opportunities. She said some of the information that was being peddled by the international media on Zimbabwe was false.
“Information in the newspapers about Zimbabwe is not true so we are trying to motivate business people in Indonesia to come and see opportunities in Zimbabwe. Our embassy here has been participating at the ZITF since 2007 but now we have decided to join directly and see opportunities in Zimbabwe,” said Ms Nurhaya.
She said more Indonesian companies wanted to come for the ZTIF but it was unfortunate that the dates for the event coincided with another expo that was being held in Indonesia.
A representative of Perum Peruri, which is the Indonesian Government printing and security company, said Zimbabwe and Indonesia had the capacity to engage in serious business partnerships.
“There are a lot of things that the two countries can do together. When you read about Zimbabwe on the internet you tend to believe that it is a risky country with a high crime level but that is wrong. I have met people here and they are very friendly. It is good for us to join the ZITF,” he said.
Perum Peruri is headquartered in Jakarta and was established in 1971.
