Police in Mashonaland East Province have launched manhunt for a man who reportedly raped an 80-year-old granny in Mutoko.

The incident reportedly occurred on February 1, 2026, around 1 am.

National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident.

“Yes we confirm that the 80-year-old granny was raped, but we will give more details later. However, investigations are already in progress,” Comm Nyathi said.

Allegations are that the man broke the bedroom window where the granny was sleeping and gained entry.

He proceeded to rape her before he bolted through the same window. The man allegedly came back after a few hours and got in through the same window.

He raped his victim for the second time after threatening to kill her if she screamed.

He then left through the window.
