AAG’s call to Govt

The Affirmative Action Group has said implementation of Government policies and programmes should be expedited in 2015 following recent ministerial changes and those in the ruling party Zanu-PF.

In a statement to mark the end of 2014 AAG president Mr Chamu Chiwanza said it was incumbent on every minister and those in the Zanu-PF leadership to work towards fulfilment of the party’s election manifesto. “As we go into 2015 we hope everyone in Government will pull in the same direction to ensure the fulfilment of pledges made in Zanu-PF’s election manifesto.

“The recent changes that were made in Zanu-PF and Government have revitalised the party and show that President Mugabe is still in charge and in full control. All our energies should now focus on implementation.

“There is nothing strange in President Mugabe firing ministers because he is empowered to hire and fire and, therefore, we just hope the nation has a positive attitude towards 2015 and that we have harmony in the party and Government because that would be good for business,” said Mr Chiwanza .

President Mugabe recently fired former vice president Dr Joice Mujuru and her cabal from Government for conduct inconsistent with their mandates.

This was after they were accused of plotting to topple President Mugabe through unconstitutional means.

Mr Chiwanza also said the indigenisation and empowerment policy remained key in turning around the fortunes of the economy. We believe the indigenisation and empowerment of our people remain the cornerstone in creating jobs and turning around our economy. Government should, therefore, broaden the inclusion of indigenous Zimbabweans in all sectors of the economy as we strive to achieve goals and objectives set under Zim-Asset.”
