The Dean of African Ambassadors accredited to Zimbabwe, Rwandan Ambassador James Musoni, has led African diplomats in planting trees during the launch of the Diplomatic Green Legacy Tree Planting Initiative.

The trees were planted today at Heritage Village, housed at the Liberation City in Harare.

The initiative complements existing national programmes that are championed by President Mnangagwa and First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, who is also a patron for the environment.

Ambassador Musoni planted the Mukweshangoma tree (Shona), also known as the Impaca in Ndebele or the Tree Wisteria in English.

The tree is indigenous to Zimbabwe and Southern Africa.

Among the top dignitaries present was Environment, Climate, and Wildlife Minister Dr Evelyn Ndlovu, Harare Metropolitan Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Charles Tavengwa, and Instak Chief Executive, Ambassador Kwame Muzawazi.
