Agencies can bid to wrest the mantle of organising the Miss Zimbabwe pageant from the Miss Zimbabwe Trust in light of the Trustas failure to hold the pageant this year.
While the rest of the continent and the world look forward to crowning the worldas best beauty at the December ceremony to be held in Gaylord National Resort & Convention Centre in Maryland, United States, Zimbabwe will be languishing on the sidelines as it was not able to send a representative of its own.
After a few scandal-hit years where the leak of winnersa nude pictures became a common occurrence, this yearas event was eventually shelved after a number of delays.
Although the organisers had initially said they would be putting stringent rules that made sure that models that made the final cut had no scandals lurking in their background, they finally put off this yearas edition, saying they could not find a suitable model to represent the country on the world stage.
According to a modelling industry insider who spoke to B-Metro on condition of anonymity, although the process for the selection of who held the rights was hazy, interested agencies could lobby the Miss World organisation to give them the rights of the trust that kept failing to come to the party.
a?Those interested can also bid to host the pageant on behalf of the country. It is not a monopoly and as things stand with the trust, it is an ideal opportunity to wrest that mettle away from them. However, you need to be well connected and follow the right channels,a? the source said.
In previous years when Kiki Divaris was at the helm and could not lead efforts to hold the pageant, Bulawayoas Fingers Modelling Agency took charge.
Some of the people who have been in charge of the pageant before the trust took over include the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority and Karin Davison.
