A HONDE Valley Agricultural Extension officer will fork out $120 in fines after he assaulted an eight-year-old boy who had stoned his child.
Jameson Mahosi (36) appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura facing assault charges.
He pleaded guilty to the offence.
Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.
It was the State’s case that the child stoned Mahosi’s son which resulted in him following the child to school where he assaulted him.
“A teacher at the school rescued the child,” said Mr Karombe.
Mahosi told the court that it was not his intention to inflict pain on the child, but to discipline him and teach him a lesson that he was not supposed to go around assaulting people.
“I thought I was disciplining the child, Your Worship since I am an elder,” said Mahosi.
Mrs Chiundura told him that he acted wrongly by putting the law into his hands.
“Instead of taking the child to the headmaster or any responsible authority, you reduced yourself to an eight-year-old and followed the minor to school. You assaulted him as if you were fighting with someone your own age,” said Mrs Chiundura.
