“We had a great time in the United Kingdom despite the chilly weather. We really connected with our Zimbabwean fans, but the turnout was fair.
“I also had the opportunity to meet British Red Cross officials who pledged their support and commitment to engage me in their fund-raising campaigns,” said Macheso.
Macheso returned home early this week to a warm welcome by his family and Zimbabwe Red Cross Society officials.
The “Charakupa” singer, who was recently appointed humanitarian ambassador by the society, has already started his duties which include assisting the poor and vulnerable children.
Speaking at Harare International Airport, Takemore Mazuruse, Zimbabwe Red Cross public relations officer, said Macheso won the hearts of the British Red Cross Society who promised to engage him in a number of activities.
“Our international co-operation official Dianne Moody said he was impressed by Macheso and soon they will be going on tour of Europe to fund-raise for the vulnerable individuals around the world,” said Mazuruse.
So far, Macheso has distributed groceries and several other goodies to the Chitungwiza blast victims as part of his humanitarian work.
The development has sent a positive message to the corporate world and the music fraternity and as a result other musicians and companies are expected to do follow suit.
